about

Headspace were formed in 2006 by keyboardist Adam Wakeman (Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath) with vocalist Damian Wilson (Threshold), former Hot Leg guitarist Pete Rinaldi, bass guitarist Lee Pomeroy (later member of It Bites and touring bass player for ELO) and drummer Rich Brook. Their first release, an EP entitled ‘I Am Anonymous’ coincided with their support shows with Osbourne on the European leg of the ‘Black Rain’ tour in 2007, which saw the band playing their first shows in huge venues like London’s Wembley Arena.

Their debut concept album ‘I Am Anonymous’ followed in May 2012, with the band signing to the Inside Out / Century Media label and garnered some fantastic reviews, with Prog Magazine (UK) calling it “one of the most engaging and exciting heavy prog albums” that they had come across in recent years, as well as “one terrifically exciting ride”. Powerplay labelled it ‘a feast for both the ears and the mind.’

After a near four-year wait, the band will return with the follow-up "All That You Fear Is Gone" in February 2016, along with a new drummer in the shape of Adam Falkner (Babyshambles, Dido, One Eskimo) following Richard Brook’s departure in early 2015.

"Right from the start, the most important thing about this band is that we have 100% artistic license to make the albums we want to make. If it takes 4 years until we're happy, then so be it. There's no point in looking back in 10 years time and say we made 7 "pretty good" albums. I'd personally rather make 2 or 3 and make them worth waiting for", Adam Wakeman comments.

Damian Wilson comments as follows on the album’s concept: “The title 'All That You Fear Is Gone' is a declaration of strength and well-being. The concept is about our natural need to group. Headspace's debut, 'I Am Anonymous', focused on the individual, and an inability to fit in. This album reflects more on the inability for the group to control the individual. It's suggesting we accept human nature and come together, containing symbolism that asks the listener to think freely, and to fight against natural grouping; what appears as destructive rebellion is in fact evolution. This album was written to make the listener think, whilst capturing the ear with complexity and simplicity combined.
