THE FLOWER KINGS - 25 years in the service of music; Started by prolific Swedish guitarist & singer Roine Stolt in 1994, NOW - again joined by long-time partners in stringed things & voices; Hasse Fröberg & Michael Stolt and Italian drummer Mirko DeMaio. Now about to release a brand-new studio album in September 2023.

This album 'LOOK AT YOU NOW' - Nr: 16 - was inspired as much by the turbulent times we travel thru lately - as by the ancient goals of mankind to find peace and enlightenment and dwell in silence - in awe of the wonders that surrounds us. According to the band themselves, their strongest set of songs in a very long time - and with a classic sound delivered thru the desk of Icon Rupert Neve at Fenix Recording Sweden.

Roine who has lately been rising to prog stardom collaborated on albums & live with Prog Rock icons Jon Anderson (YES), Steve Hackett (Genesis), and supergroups Transatlantic, The Sea Within (Tom Brislin, Marco Minnemann, Daniel Gildenlöw) among others - has been one of the brightest beacons in modern prog - so no wonder the classic heroes of prog turn to him to get fuel for new wondrous stories...

The Flower King's catalog of 15 studio albums has recently been reissued by SONY worldwide as colored Vinyl LP & CD - restored and partly remixed. 25 years of touring the world with frequent returns to places like Japan, USA, Canada, and South America - and of course Europe - building a worldwide following.

The Flower Kings: with a very unique blend of styles ranging from Swedish folk music to jazz-rock & bombastic - to operatic - freeform jam - The Kings have made a royal mark in the world of melodic orchestrated rock, at times compared to bands like Pink Floyd, Yes, Frank Zappa & Genesis. This album is a bonanza for TFK and prog rock fans in general - a ’grower’- as should be with progressive rock - like a fine wine.

The album takes off nicely with David Longdon's "The Strangest Times", but then gets into immediate free fall and deeply underwater for the next few tracks, quite unexpectedly. Fortunately, it recovers with Nick D'Virgilio's "Apollo" (hey, this guy CAN write good music, although he hides this ability most of the time) and the remaining three tracks, one of which is another Longdon masterpiece. Fell in love with BBT recently, absolutely love the stories they tell and the music. Very sad to hear about David’s passing, listening now is quite moving, moved to tears from time to time, but we move on as I hope BBT will with David in our hearts. tonyauroristony58
