The sixth album from Swedish prog titans Pain Of Salvation, "Scarsick" was released in 1999. Though written entirely by Daniel Gildenlöw, the record is more of a group effort between the four musicians, while lyrically it's a strong social commentary on a variety of troubling topics.

One of the most spectacular albums I've heard since Lateralus. Amazing that this came as the output of a person grieving the loss of people whom they built lives and careers together with. The pain yet exuberance of this music is so enlivening, full of need for empathy and sympathy yet also hope and joy in carrying on to be an awakened person and express the highest good. Advosary
